Crowley wrote The Book of the Law 8, 9, and April 10, 1904 betweenhe hours of noon and 1:00 pm. Crowley also had a "strong impression" muscles of the general appearance of the speaker. Aiwass had a body composed of 'fine matter', which had a transparency of gauze. In addition, 'seemed fitness to be tall, dark-skinned in their thirties, active and strong, with the face of a savage king, and eyes veiled lest their gaze to destroy what he saw. The dress was not Arab, Assyrian or Persian suggested, but very vaguely. " Although originally written to be an 'excellent example of automatic writing' Crowley later insisted that was not the case. On whether to admit the possibility that Aiwass is a manifestation of his subconscious, but the thought that this was a remote possibility:
Of course I wrote, ink on paper, in the material sense, but those are not my words, unless it is taken as Aiwaz I merely my subconscious, or part of it: in that case, my ignorance I would be aware Truth of the Book and hostile to almost all the ethics and philosophy of the Book, Aiwaz is a part of my severely repressed. Such a theory would mean that I am, without knowing myself in possession of all sorts of praeternatural knowledge and power. "
